Dear Friend,
Greetings, and welcome to my campaign website.

First and foremost, I wish to congratulate Judge Skoda on his victory in the election. His campaign was well financed and well run. His qualifications for the position are not in dispute. I wish him well on the Bench – it’s a tough job. I look forward to the privilege of appearing before him as Fulton County Family Court Judge.

As my first campaign ever in my life for an elected office, I am proud and honored, and truly humbled by the efforts put forth on my behalf by my family and friends and volunteers. Although I never really considered my campaign to be “grass roots”, I always considered it to be home grown. We ran a campaign based on the merits of my candidacy. An honest and open campaign, not based on politics and who know whom, but based on the position of Family Court Judge itself, its importance to the community as a whole and my qualifications for that position.

I have taken great pride and am deeply honored by the number of people who have volunteered to help me with my campaign and their efforts on my behalf. It is without question a true blessing in my and my family’s life.

The campaign has been an unparalleled education for both myself and the people helping me. It has also been an experience. I have enjoyed tremendously meeting people all over the County in all different kinds of circumstances. From the parades to the chicken dinners to the pancake breakfasts. From people stopping me in the stores to discuss the campaign, to walking door-to-door (to door, to door, to door). I would not give back any single moment for what it has added to my experience and understanding of local politics.

I would first and foremost like to thank my wife, Lynette our son, Noah (age 5) and our daughter Evelyn (age sixteen months) for both inspiring me to strive to give more back to my community, while at the same time keeping me grounded. I would also like to thank my mom and dad, Norm and Doris Clo for their unflagging support and enthusiasm. One of the high points of the entire campaign was the thrill my parents got in being able to vote for me. I am also eternally grateful and thankful to my “extended family” – the volunteers who never failed to step up when the need arose. The number of people who willingly gave of their time and talents to help me in my efforts never stopped amazing me. It has been a true blessing. As you can imagine, campaigning is a time consuming and sometime grueling process. My family and friends gave up a lot of thier time over the past year.

Running for office on a County-wide basis has been an adventure and an education. As I would tell people on the campaign trail, I have learned if nothing else that I am a great candidate and probably a lousy politician. And I am fine with that. The price I and my family would have to pay for me to become adept at the “politics” of it all – the time away from my young family, the compromises in ideals - is not a price I am willing to pay. And to a person, when I would tell that to people they would immediately identify with my sentiments.

Please say hello if you see me. Stop me, ask me about the campaign. Take interest in the elected offices out there and the qualifications of the people running for those offices. And no matter what, take the time to VOTE!

Sincerely,

John N. Clo

" John’s work ethic, his honesty, and his integrity are well known and well established. One need only to sit down and talk with John to understand his lack of ego and his genuine interest in doing the right thing. This comes from a strong upbringing by two loving parents, who are well-known leaders and community volunteers. I have no doubt that John fully understands the mission of Family Court to provide stability for all children involved in the various proceedings. This isn’t an easy task, as Fulton County Family Court has traditionally had a large number of petitions filed each year (over 5,000). His disciplined work schedule, developed during his military career, will lend itself well to the heavy work load in Family Court and will assist in providing timely resolutions for the stability of Fulton County families "

General Election Results

Nov 4th, 2009

On November 3rd, Fulton County residents selected Ed Skoda as their Family Court Judge. The unofficial results, issued by the Fulton County Board of Elections were 5647 votes for Skoda and 2056 votes for John Clo.

For several reasons, including issues with the new voting machines in several districts, as well as issues with the congressional battle in the 23rd Congressional District, 14 of the county's districts have had both ballots and voting machinery impounded. Additionally, 441 county absentee ballots still need to be counted. Election officials believe the remaining ballots will be counted by next week.

We are of course, disappointed. John has congratulated Judge Skoda on a hard fought battle. When asked if he has any plans to run in the future, John commented that it depended on the office up for election but that he would be interested if the right opportunity presented itself.
